We are living in difficult times and a lot of people are discouraged and depressed due to anxieties, violence, recession, health issues, job layoffs, feeling cheated, fear, injustice, financial debt, maltreatment, misunderstandings, trials, adversity, stagnation etc.

Are you thinking of giving up because things are not working out as planned yet? Let me tell you there are many hurdles to cross in life to reach one’s goals. The battle begins at conception when out of millions of sperm released, only one single sperm survives and is crowned as a victor – and that is you. If you did not give up, when you were with those millions of sperm struggling to become a child why would you give up now? God has been with you even when you were in the womb. God said “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations”(Jer 1:5). See also Isaiah 44:24.

Abraham Lincoln allegedly failed 12 times on his way to the White House, but did not give up. See his often recounted path to the White House below:

1. Failed in business in 1831 2. Defeated for legislature in 1832 3. Second failure in business in 1833
4. Suffered nervous breakdown in 1836 5. Defeated for Speaker in 1838 6. Defeated for Elector in 1840
7. Defeated for Congress in 1843 8. Defeated for Congress in 1848 9. Defeated for Congress in 1848,
10. Defeated for Senate in 1855 11. Defeated for Vice-President in 1856 12. Defeated for Senate in 1858,
14. Elected President in 1860.

So no matter what circumstance you are going through, or situation you are facing, just know that the God that helped you to survive during conception is still alive and the thoughts He has towards you are not the thoughts of evil but of good and peace to give you an expected future.

Never give up, and be confident in what you do. There may be tough times, but the difficulties which you face will make you more determined to achieve your objectives, and to win against all the odds. Tough times never last but tough people do….. Robert H. Schuller
At this point, can I ask you something? Are you journeying alone by yourself without looking at the one that knew you when you were in the womb of your mother? It is not by power nor by might but by the Spirit of God. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight (Prov 3:5-6). Maybe you have not known Him or had any relationship with Him, and this might be an opportunity to connect to Him, He said “if anyone comes to me, I will in no wise cast him out”.

Heed God’s call today. He says “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your soul” Matt 11:28-29.

Whatever you are going through now, don’t give up and call upon Him today for He cares for you and will never leave you nor forsake you.

Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
