In our journey of life, we are faced with the issues and challenges that sometimes weigh us down. When David returned back from the war, he found that their city was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. He and his men were discouraged, they wept until they had no more power to weep. Infact David was greatly distressed for the people spoke of stoning him, but despite this David encouraged himself in the LORD his God (See 1 Sam. 30:1-6). Also, in Josh. 1:6, God told Joshua to be strong and of good courage after he was commissioned to take over after the death of Moses. God has to repeat this in Josh 1:7 and Josh 1:9 because He knows Joshua faced difficult situations and obstacles ahead and he need a reassurance that all will be well as long as he can be strong be of good courage.
